Singleness and Happiness

It's funny to me the stages of life that we go through.

They vary from time to time and place to place, and I like to think that during each stage I change for the better.  Some of the stages that I have been experiencing recently have varied and sometimes contradicted each other.  Singleness, loneliness, and happiness to name a few.
Enjoying the Journey: Singleness and Happiness
Over the past few months singleness has been the biggest and greatest on my list.  And over those months I have slowly been reminded that the Lord has put me in this stage for a reason.  I have gotten to do many things since moving home that I would not have if I were not in this stage(aka- had a hand holding buddy).

So I have decided to highlight my singleness and turn it into happiness with the things I have been able to do with it:

1. In November I started sponsoring a little girl in Guatemala through Compassion.  Her name is Arlyn and it has been such a blessing to get to sponsor her and monetarily use my singleness for the Lord.

2. Gotten closer with my family.  As some of you know our life as a family unit has started to change over the past few months, thanks to that blonde girl that is always with my brother, but that has not hindered our relationships at all.  I am actually thankful that I am single because I have gotten the opportunity to be intentional with Caitlin and get to know her on a personal level.  Not only have our relationships grow, but our family has too and I am thrilled.

3. Granmom.  If you don't already know I have the most amazing grandmother in the world.  Don't try and tell me otherwise because I will win that fight!!!  As a result of my singleness I have gotten to spend more time with her than ever before.  I aspire to be even half the woman she is when I grow up and I cherish every moment I get with her, and as of late I have been blessed to have many shared moments with her!

4. Jewelry and Cards.  I love making jewelry and cards, but in college I never did because I never had time.  Now I have found my passion for it again and am reminded of why I loved doing it so much growing up.  I have started making some new designs and I am really getting back into it.  The best part is seeing people's faces when they get a something that I have spent time on just for them.

There are many other things that I am grateful for as a result of my singleness, but these are just a few.  I would be lying to you if I told you that I love this singleness stage and never want to leave it.  But for now I am embracing it and finding happiness through it!
